The Kauffman Foundation was established in the mid-1960s by the late entrepreneur and philanthropist Ewing Marion Kauffman. Mr. Kauffman created the Foundation to advance his core beliefs that education and entrepreneurship are key elements to building a society of productive, self-sufficient, socially-conscious adults who will in turn give back to their communities. Today, the Foundation’s entrepreneurial focus is on building a better environment for innovative, high-growth entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. Initiatives include helping entrepreneurial support organizations build capacity to educate, mentor, and coach entrepreneurs; providing entrepreneurs with access to information and advice via the Internet; data development and research in the field of entrepreneurship; and, enhancing access to capital, markets, and other important resources.
